All it took was a call from a friend for foster caregiver Cathy Glass, bestselling author of Damaged, to take in a 10-year-old girl ostracized by her family. But Donna refuses to speak for days, until the morning Cathy finds her furiously scrubbing floors. That’s when the child finally breaks down, telling how her family would punish her if the house was not clean, and how she was made to wash with wire wool to erase the color of her skin. Yet instead of opening up more, as Cathy had hoped, Donna reveals a very dangerous side of her character.
The Saddest Girl in the World is the moving true story of how Cathy, despite feeling threatened, finally got beneath Donna’s tough exterior to comfort the little girl crying out for help.

Both my 95-year old mother and I read this book. I can't imagine how a mother could treat a child like the one in this book. The mother was truly disturbed. Cathy Glass must certainly have a special place in God's heart for all the healing and kindness she gives to the children she fosters. Great book!

I just finished this book, and I have to say Cathy Glass is among my favorite authors. To put into words the horror she sees when she takes in these abused children takes talent, heart, and most definately patience. I loved this book. I read her other book Damaged and was equally impressed with this one as well. I can't wait to read the others.
