A few years ago Michael J. Rosen compiled a book of chefs’ favorite home recipes for Cooking from the Heart, which benefited the premier anti-hunger agency, Share Our Strength. It was a huge hit with home cooks across the country—and now, in an inspired collection of extraordinary sweets—he’s done it again.
From Cook’s Illustrated’s Christopher Kimball comes a decadent Maple Walnut Tart, and from Rick Rodgers (Celebrations 101) comes Chocolate-Cherry Fudge Torte with Kirsch Whipped Cream. Rosen got dozens of our favorite chefs, authors and bakeshop owners to contribute their recipes and stories—and the result is a collection you’ll be proud to draw from for your next bake sale, birthday party, or family gathering.

I was very disappointed in this book, The receipes are not ones I would use for my family. It does show alot of how to pick food items. I wanted this book so bad . but now it just sits on the shelf. I have another book of GoodHouseKeeping which is alot better than this one. Oh well to each his own.

@ $5.99 how can you lose? And this is a GOOD BUY, because it is a good book. Jump on it all you bakers!
Reviewer: Carmen
At 5.99, it felt wrong to pass up on the book. I'm glad I didn't. While some effort is involved, the recipes are delicious. I would have paid more for the 'capirotada' recipe alone. If baking is your thing, the book is another yummy resource to reach for again, and again.
