Twilight

All hail the new Vampire Queen! Stephenie Meyer had her legions of fans thirsting for more long before this dangerously romantic vampire thriller knocked the Harry Potter series right off its coveted spot as the #1 series for children’s books on the New York Times bestseller list! So why all the hype? Twilight is the first book in the heart-pounding saga about an ordinary girl named Bella Swan whose life takes an extraordinary and terrifying turn when she meets Edward Cullen, an impossibly handsome vampire. When he falls in love with her nobody is safe, especially Bella. Now, as the lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife—between desire and danger—can Bella survive their love?

My Review
February 26, 2013

After reading the first book in the series, I'm not that impressed. Yes, I realize that as a 36-year-old male I am not the target audience for this series, but I like to read a wide variety of genres and wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. The actual storyline and characters are fairly well thought out and developed (I could have done with a lot less teenage angst, but it was not at all unexpected.) My main problem was that I did not find this to be very well written at all. The pacing left little to be desired and the writing style itself I found to be rather dull. I will most probably be blasted for this comparison, but I picked this up likening it to the Harry Potter series in that it was very highly hyped and everyone had to read it. However, Harry Potter is very well written and entertaining, and while I've read much worse, Twilight so far has not impressed. Hopefully the series gets better as I go.

Bella is boring
November 27, 2012

Found this to be a really dull read. The main character is incapable of taking care of herself. I would not have finished except I ran out of books at the time. The end was slightly better then the rest of the book but not enough to read the others in the series. It takes a lot for me to not want to finish a book. Would have given it no stars if that was a option.

FANTASTIC!!! A MUST READ!!!!
March 31, 2012

In response to Reviewer Steve; November 28, 2010 "Worst Series EVER!!!" Maybe this series was above your IQ and understanding and maybe you should stick to something you can understand, I suggest "Curious George". As for my own personal review, i loved the series. I think this is one of the BEST book series and movie series ever made. I look forward to more of Stephenie Meyer!
