Breathless

There’s little about carpenter Grady Adams, a strong and gentle man who lives a solitary life deep in the Colorado mountains, to suggest the experiences that alienated him from society. But the day he comes upon a pair of magnificent furry animals that are clearly from an unknown species, everything changes. Grady is intrigued, to say the least, and after a few more encounters he manages to befriend the enchanting creatures. By that time he’s enlisted his friend, veterinarian Camellia “Cammy” Rivers, to help him observe their actions. Yet neither Grady nor Cammy are aware that they, too, are being watched.

There couldn’t be a more apt title for Dean Koontz’s new edge-of-the-seat thrill ride than Breathless. For Grady feels the wind knocked out of him when, out of the blue, his home and untold miles of surrounding wilderness are put under strict quarantine by a virtual army of close-mouthed government operatives. But we’re the ones left gasping by a stunning, unforeseen event that convinces Grady and Cammy to do the unthinkable: to escape, taking the two creatures they’ve adopted and feel they must protect at all costs on a riveting race for freedom.

Magical, mystical, mesmerizing

I loved this book. Dean is one of my most favorite authors and even though this was different it still had the Koontz mysterious style. I literally could not stop reading and devoured every word in less than 5 hours.

Couldn't put it down !!!

Really enjoyed the book, and would love to have the fuzzy pair for myself..To bad that there wasn't a couple more chapters to find out weather Grady and Cammy ever got married. That would have been a perfect ending to a great book..Got to love Dean.

What was that?
December 15, 2011

This has got to be one of Koontz worse books. I am a big fan of his. Love the way he describes his characters. But this book was great in the beginng and at the end it felt like he was bored with it and wanted it to end, and it didn't matter how. I felt like I wasted my time and moeny on this book. Please Mr. Knootz don't do this to one of your favorite fans!

Very Good

This book was very good and fast moving. At times I felt anxious to know what would happen next and couldn't read it fast enough to find out! The ending seemed a little abrupt, but overall the book was good.

Amazing!
June 03, 2011

This is probably one of Dean Koontz's best books to date. It was fascinating, thought provoking and beautiful. I fell in love with his writing all over again. Yes, you had to think about it...which is what great books should do. I love it when I read a great book and can't start a new one right away because the one I just read was so good that I can't concentrate on a new one yet!
