I know the exact place it happened, coming from Texas and relatives in the area. My father and brother both passed three years ago very close together and I had a "dream" of talking to them, so i was extremely interested in finding out how what I saw and what he saw differed. Not much at all. But then, it jerks you back into the raw, stubborn, man in pain and how he really just wanted to die. At first I felt pity, but it got repetitive. Same scenario, different sentence. I liked the part where he was told to "get his act together". But, he still whines. If you're looking for a feel good story, this isn't it.

I read this book right after my father passed away 3 years ago. My dad struggled throughout his life, being paralyzed fom his neck down for several months, and then going from a walking young man to wheel-chair bound in his later years, it gave me a whole new insight to what awaits us after we depart this life. I was comforted by Mr. Piper's writing and revelations. This is a "must read"
for anyone that doesn't believe in life after death~!

The author states several times through the book that he takes no credit and gives it to God and then turns around to give us chapter after chapter of what amazing things he has done. I couldn't get past the ego of this guy long enough to even enjoy the story he was attempting to tell.

The first chapter only covers his time in heaven. I thought I would read more on his afterlife. The rest of the book was about his suffering and depression. Yes it was good to read, how thankful we are and how we don't have go through that. But it really wasn't what I anticipated.

This book was just okay in my estimation. It was very interesting to learn what heaven was like, but it was so redundant in his telling of his story that I tended to get bored more toward the end. Seems like it could have told me everything I need to know in about half the pages. Definitely is not a book for entertainment, but I would recommend it to anyone interested in the hereafter or anyone grieving the loss of a loved one.
