The Last Song

Nicholas Sparks’ most poignant novel to date centers on Veronica “Ronnie” Miller, whose life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, the seventeen-year-old remains alienated from her parents, especially her father…until her mother decides it would be in everyone’s best interest if she and her little brother spent the summer in Wilmington with him.

Ronnie’s father, Steve, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. A former concert pianist, it breaks his heart that Ronnie, who shares his gift for music, refuses to play. But when Ronnie gets involved with the wrong crowd and winds up in trouble with the law, Steve’s belief in her innocence begins to melt the ice between them. At the same time, Will Blakelee, a boy whose family apppears to be everything Ronnie’s is not, opens her eyes to things she never wanted to see…or feel.

In The Last Song, Nicholas Sparks examines the love between parents and children, and first love, too, as Ronnie learns the many ways a heart can be broken, and heal.

good....but...

This was a good book but not very realistic. The worst part was that I kept picturing Miley Cyrus in my mind as Ronnie and it ruined it for me. I haven't seen the movie, but I don't think Miley fit the part at all. Nicholas Sparks is hit or miss with me.
