The Depression is taking its toll on single mother Ella Barron, who runs a boarding house to help make ends meet. Caring for her ten-year-old son Solly, whose failure to speak has solicited unwanted advice from everyone in her small Texas town, isn’t easy for Ella, either. But mysterious new boarder David Rainwater seems to have the magic touch not just with Solly, but with his reluctant landlady. Unable to resist David’s strength of purpose or his passion, Ella enters into a relationship that will give her the courage to withstand the winds of change that are sweeping the country…and her life.
Sandra Brown’s Rainwater is an enthralling tale that will touch your heart and linger there long after you’ve turned the last page.

I have been a Sandra Brown fan since she first started writing, and even though this is completely different than any of her others, I think it's probably her best.
I strongly recommend this book to everyone. Beautifully written, wonderful story that stays with you and one you would want to read and re-read again.

As other reviewers have said, this was a different style of writing for Sandra Brown. With that being said, what I did like is that it wasn't a page turner for a change. It gave me something to read at bed time for a few weeks, without spending hours to get through the book in one day!

I just finished this book last night. I LOVED it! I think it is the best book I have every read!! I felt like I was in the same room with them. I have always been a Sandra Brown fan but she out did herself! I will read this book again and again. I cried like a baby when I read the epilogue. It was truly a great love story ! Would recommend highly.

Sandra Brown has touched a new source in this lovely story. It truly excells. I've read many of her books and enjoyed all, however I never posted a review. This book was a must.Hopefully she will write more as warm, as human, as touching.
