Accidental ranch wife Ree Drummond's success as a blogger, cookbook author and now Food Network celebrity is surely no accident. It's due to her dedication to excellence, just as her husband and his hands show every day on their Oklahoma ranch. These cowboys need fuel and she's there to serve it up hot and tasty, with a dose of her homespun humor. Get in line for your share, with a heaping helping of down-home recipes for suppers, sides and sweets in The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food From My Frontier. This book is all about the food, but Drummond definitely doesn't skimp on gorgeous photos (of both the recipes and life on the ranch) and her funny observances. Goodness gracious, this cookbook is good! Color photos.

All of her recipes are easy and delicious--and even though she tells you right up front that she's not into calorie counting, I cant help but take away one star just because I would like to know exactly how bad this stuff is for me by at least printing recipe calories (I pretty much have an idea when 2lbs of powdered sugar are used). Hey not all of us are cowboys expending thousands of calories a day :)

I received the book as a present and glanced at it. After I got hooked on the tv show with Ms. Drummond, I thought of the cook book. It is not only a cookbook, but a story book. I read it cover to cover quickly and have tried several recipes that remind me of my childhood and mom's cooking in Texas as a boy. Good family style cooking all will enjoy.

I watch her tv show and also went on her site. She has good ideas and down home recipes. Book is great, and not just for beginners. Shows pictures for each step in recipe. With any recipe I like to experiment with different ingredients according to my likes and dislikes as long as I have the basics. Will get her first book since best seller.

I was very disappointed with this book. It really is for beginners. The recipes are what I have in other cookbooks. Nothing new or different for a Pioneer women. Nice pictures & the paper used pricey & good quality but the recipes nothing to write home about.
