Shy innkeeper Zoe Hoffman has all but given up on love. She’s a gentle, romantic soul, but has been so hurt in the past that she doesn’t dare trust her heart with anyone anymore. Especially not Alex Nolan. Scarred by his bitter past, he drinks to keep his demons at bay, and not only has he given up on love, he has never, ever believed in it.
In Dream Lake, fate and circumstance throw this unlikely duo together. Determined to care for her ailing grandmother, Zoe hires Alex to help her renovate her grandmother’s cottage on the shores of beautiful Dream Lake. It’s a difficult pairing. Zoe is burdened by life’s tragedies and her need to always be strong for her loved ones. Alex is haunted by his troubled childhood, his ex-wife’s betrayal, and a ghost with its own mysterious agenda. As different as two people can be, Zoe and Alex are oil and water, fire and ice, sunshine and shadow. But, as they’ll soon learn, sometimes it takes only a glimmer of light to chase away the dark….
A welcome addition to the wonderful Friday Harbor books, Dream Lake is classic Lisa Kleypas: romantic, powerful, emotional, and utterly magical. Turn off your phone, lock the doors, and prepare to be transported.

There were parts that were truly enjoyable. That being said, I'm not sure I could buy into all of the paranormal activity that was going on between Alex and the Ghost especially towards the end.

Everything you expect from a Lisa Kleypas book. A beautiful love story with a lot of background to it.
